The method is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  This is the act of turning the placenta into easy placenta pills to swallow. Consequently, new postpartum parents have easy to consume tablets, as a supplement during the first weeks of your postpartum period.

You DO NOT EAT your placenta.

Encapsulation has been practiced for centuries as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, to treat these imbalances and to counteract fatigue and lactation issues in new postpartum mother/parent

The 2017 article published by the CDC is not a study but a case report, about an isolated incident.

However, we know that when the TCM protocols are being respected, it is safe to encapsulate:  The encapsulator and the new parents must work in compliance with the food safety protocols and safe food handling.

Additionally, when been steamed properly, bacteria are killed before the dehydration stage.  This is why, I do not provide raw preparation option.

It only takes a small piece of the  dehydrated placenta added in high-grade alcohol to prepare a tincture, as well as a little bit of “savoir-faire”.  It’s an ideal pick-me-up, available any time of transition, or emotional challenges for both mother and child.

The placenta capsules are most beneficial in the postpartum weeks because they warm up and balance back the body, the tincture is most useful in the months and years to come.

Honoring your baby placenta! A placenta print is using your baby’s placenta to make a print on paper as a keepsake.  In fact, I use natural blood, or/and natural food coloring on acid-free artists paper.  Some families frame the art print and display their prints as art or others choose to save them as personal keepsakes.
